Armond Fratello, 91, was welcomed into heaven on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born January 11, 1921 in Caltrano, Italy to Ferdinand and Anastasia (Dal Santo) Dal Fratello. Armond lived 81 years in Rockford coming from Italy. He married Norma Dal Santo on August 31, 1947 at St. Anthony of Padua Church and they shared 64 years together and raised three children. Armond was a lifelong member of St. Anthony’s Church and the Venetian Club. He was a graduate of West High School’s first graduating class of 1941 and veteran of World War II serving in the Marine Corps. He worked as a supervisor for Sundstrand and later for Brearley Co. until he retired. Armond had a great sense of humor and was a LIFELONG Cubs fan but his most important roles were as loving, husband, father and nonno.
Survived by wife of 64 years Norma; children, David (Nette), Dan (Marcia) Fratello and Geri Ann (John) DeRango; grandchildren, Tina, John, Luke, Maggie; great-grandchildren, Carmel and Aria. Predeceased by his loving grandson Brad; brothers, Dino, Joseph and sister Theresa.
Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 25 in St. Anthony of Padua Church. Internment at Calvary. Visitation from 9:00 until time of mass.
