Gilbert Carlton "Carl" Palmer, 84, of Loves Park, Illinois died 11:30am Friday April 20, 2012 in the comfort of his own home. Born January 24, 1928 in Rochelle, Illinois son to Gilbert & Grace Palmer. Married Roseline E. Dodson on May 5, 1951, in Rochelle. She passed away April, 8, 2010. Retired from Barber Colman January 31, 1988 after 37 years. Veteran of the US Army. Gilbert was a scoutmaster, and coached little league softball. He was an excellent bowler back in his day. He also enjoyed the occasional gambling trip. Gilbert was an honest guy all his life, just trying to get by in life.

Survivors include sons; Michael & Gary, brother in law, Allen Dodson and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; sons, Terry,& Dennis, wife, Roseline, brothers; Clarence & Benjamin and sisters; Mabel & Ruth. Special thanks to Heartland Hospice and all their staff and care givers who made it possible for our dad to remain in his home, especially Vicky.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2012 in Lawnridge Cemetery, Rochelle, with Reverend Dr. Ron Meyer officiating. No visitation will be held.
