Ralph D. Showers, 61, died on Friday, April 27, 2012 in OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center after a silent battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family. Born to Allan Showers and Elinor Brown Showers on June 7, 1950, he was a graduate of North Boone High School, Poplar Grove, IL. Ralph later married Debra Bennington on September 13, 1969, in Beloit, WI. He served in the Wisconsin National Guard 1970-1976. He was the proud father of Carrie Brockway and Joshua Showers. He was also the proud grandfather of two beautiful grandsons, Noah & Jacob Brockway. Ralph owned and operated Steamco Carpet Care in the Northern Illinois area for 38 years and was an innovator in the cleaning industry with many happy customers. Ralph continued his carpet cleaning career with Society Carpet Cleaners providing the same high level of service he had in the past. He also held a part time position at Roscoe True Value in which he took much pride and satisfaction. In his free time, you would find Ralph helping others, as Ralph never said no to a friend in need. Whether he was dog sitting, helping repair cars, or giving someone a ride, friends and family could count on him. He enjoyed taking care of horses on his sisters’ family horse farm in Poplar Grove. On the weekends, he could often be found singing Karaoke with his ever growing circle of friends.

Ralph is survived by his daughter Carrie (Tim) Brockway of South Beloit, son Joshua Showers of Rockford, grandsons Noah & Jacob Brockway of South Beloit, sisters Jean Powers of Roscoe, Jackie (Chuck) Friedl McGonigal of Caledonia, Wendy (Bill) Ellingson of Poplar Grove, Mary (Dave) York of Champaign, Connie Johnson (Bill Hazer) of Rockford, brothers Roger Showers (Berta) of Caledonia, Stan (Mary) Showers of Roscoe & wife Debra Showers of South Beloit, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and great nieces & nephews. . He was predeceased by his parents.

Services will be 7:00 p.m., Friday May 4, 2012 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory, Roscoe Chapel, 11342 Main St. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m., to services Friday in the funeral home.
