Josephine "Josie" E. Caraotta, 84, of Rockford passed away on Monday, April 30, 2012. The youngest of eight children, she was born on February 13, 1928 in Buffalo, New York to Sam and Josephine (Maggio) Fatta. Josie was married to Jacob "Jack" Caraotta who was termed a pioneer in hospital pharmacy; he passed away on October 31, 1999. Josie and Jack were owners of a pharmacy in Buffalo. Josie remained in Angola, New York for the purpose of being a caretaker of several family members and in 2006 she relocated to Rockford. She was a member of Rockford First Assembly where she enjoyed greeting, serving donuts, and was a part of the intercessory prayer team. She had the highest regard for the pastoral staff at Rockford First and was the closest to Pastor Bob and Pastor Jason who frequently upheld and visited her in prayer when she was unable to attend church.

Josie is survived by three children, Samuel (Amy) Caraotta, Jacob (Celeste) Caraotta and Valerie Caraotta. She also had nine grandchildren who will greatly miss her, but understand that she is rejoicing in the presence of the Lord. Predeceased by her parents, husband and siblings, Carol Thomas, Rose Allison, Lucille Sullivan, and James, Joseph, Louis and Bert Fatta.

Funeral service will be at 11:00am on Thursday, May 3, 2012 in Rockford First, 5950 Spring Creek Road with a visitation from 10:00am until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Rockford First. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park. Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory is honored to have assisted the family.
