Roland “Steb” W. Stebbins, 94, of Rockford passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at home. Born May 13, 1918 in Des Moines, Iowa. Steb married Sheila Ross on May 13, 1951. Steb, a US Navy veteran, was employed by The Rockford Area Chamber of Commerce before retiring in 1983. He was a life long member of Kiwanis International.

Survived by his loving wife of 61 years; son, Brian (Pattie) of Southlake, Texas and daughter, Diane (Charles) Stout of Rockford; grandchildren, Kelli (Peter) Girardin, Carter and Jenna Stebbins; step grandchildren Kyle, Jason (Aly) Stout, Kori (Aaron) Hoffman, Hallie and Mallorie.

Steb had a special place in his heart for great grandchildren Olivia and John Ross Girardin and a special bond with brother and sister in law Bob and Kate Ross of Washington, Iowa. Predeceased by his parents; brothers, Dwayne and Harold; and infant son, Scott. Family wishes to extend a special thanks to Visiting Nurses Association Hospice.

At Steb’s request a celebration of life, will be held on Sunday, July 8, from 3:00-6:00 at the family’s home. Contact family for more information.
