Carol M. Bechtold, 77, of Rockford passed away Friday, February 17, 2012. Born on November 15, 1934 in Vermillion, South Dakota, the daughter of Oscar and Clara (Hanson) Danielson. Carol was the founder and owner of Needle in the Haystack. She played golf and loved to cook. She was nationally recognized and won many trips for her sales of Sarah Coventry Jewelry.

She is the beloved wife of Ralph; loving mother of Lynne (Ken) Stephens, Mike (Cheryl) Bechtold, Jeri Hock, and Tim (Brenda) Bechtold; proud grandmother of Nicholas (Caryn) Ehrhart, Lindsey, Ben, Jennifer, Kyle and Nicole Bechtold and Allyssa Hock and great-grandson, Stephen Ehrhart; dear sister of Irene (Duane) Iverson and Joan (Steve) Thompson. Predeceased by her parents and sister, Opal (Frank) Mumaugh.

Funeral service will be at 10:00am on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 with a visitation from 9:00 until the time of service in Christ the Rock Lutheran Church, 8330 Newburg Road, Rockford. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family for a fund to be established.
